Assemblage Boutique Art Bed and Breakfast is located at 176 New Town Road, New Town. New Town Road, known as the Main Road is a continuation of Elizabet Street which begins in Hobart city. Travelling to the Elizabeth Street Mall is five minutes by car, fifteen minutes by bus or a leisurely half hour walk. Buses pass by every ten minutes and the bike track, which is a short distance away takes a scenic route around the Queen’s Domain and Botanical Gardens to the city. Heading North the bike track will take you to MONA. Bicycles are available for guests to use.

New Town is a very old inner-city suburb with interesting cottages and grand old buildings. For history buffs, Runnymede National Trust property is nearby and the Queens Orphan School is now the Kick Start Arts Centre on the old St Johns Park site. Adjacent to the Post Office is the Church Antiques. Cornelian Bay with its quaint, colourful boat sheds is a leisurely walk from Assemblage, where there are walking tracks around the shore of the Derwent River. For those seeking nature, bush walking is close by in Lenah Valley.

The New Town Plaza with Kmart, Coles and the Chemist Warehouse is a 5 minute walk, as is Dan Murphy’s. Immediately opposite Assemblage is Lebrina Fine Dining, the King Wah Chinese Restaurant and Take away, and the Talbot Hotel is just a short walk. There are a number of bakeries, cafes, food vans and op shops. The trendy North Hobart strip is along the road where there are a variety of restaurants and shops. The very popular State Cinema complex has multiple cinemas, a café and a book store. There are also numerous sporting facilities in New Town.
